Why did Bnei Yisrael (the Children of Israel) have to observe Shabbat (Sabbath)? |
Because God loved them and wanted to give them a day off
In order to give them a chance to learn Torah on Shabbat
In order to test their faith in God's ability to sustain them even if they did not work for one day a week
In order to remember that they were slaves in Mitzrayim (Egypt) and God brought them out
