Why did God change the name of Avram (Abram) to Avraham (Abraham)? |
In the Canaanite language, the name Abram was insulting and offensive
Because it was a sign of a covenant with God that Avraham would be the father of many people and nations
In order to disguise Abram's real name in order to protect his soul
Because the name Abraham meant "Peace" in the Ugaritic language of Ur Kasdim
