Why wouldn't Yaakov (Jacob) place his right hand on the older son when he blessed the sons of Yosef (Joseph)? |
Because the right hand belonged on the son who would be greater
Because that was the way Yaakov's father Yitzchak (Isaac) blessed him and his brother Eisav (Esau)
Because there was no significance in which hand rested on which brother
Because it would be less comfortable for Yaakov if he reversed the initial crossed position of his hands
