Because the Edomites never attacked them
Because the Edomites gave them food and water when they were coming out of Mitzrayim (Egypt)
Because the Edomites let them pass through their land when they were coming out of Mitzrayim
Because the Edomites were their brothers, i.e., they were descendants of Eisav (Esau), the brother of Yaakov (Jacob)
