Because being a shepherd was a lonely profession and therefore they had to be far away from other people
Because the Mitzrim needed sheep for sacrifices in their religion and they would be happy
Because Mitzrayim (Egypt) was overrun by locusts and the grazing sheep would eat the locusts' food
Because the Mitzrim (Egyptians) detested sheep herders and would want them far away in the land of Goshen
